Your Song Day is a company that prides itself on being authentic, and strives to act in honor of the music we love. We will eventually offer many genres of course, because music in all forms is relevant and beautiful, but truly dear to our hearts, and what we've chosen to start with is: Jazz.
Any musician will tell you how thinking about their music keeps them up at night and with its inspirational fuel ,gets them up in the morning as well, and for us this is just a way of life. Who needs sleep?
We decided early that a gift should mean something and sparkle in its simple gesture, and that we would create quality products - our flagship custom composed jazz tunes, which would be sung and played by seasoned musicians, without using machines to do it. Instead, we knew that there is a beautiful harmonic overtone series that sets apart the magic contained in the recordings of acoustic instruments, so we went with various orchestrations of real acoustic piano, guitar , upright bass, drum set and horns, with male and female vocalists.
We save the tech for post production and utilize the best of it to get you the cleanest representation of the performances.
Our Artists, engineers, lyricists, composers and arrangers are all well honed in their accomplishments.
The work we do culminates into a seriously high end bespoke masterpiece, just for the client, but only after it's been rehearsed, recorded professionally, perfectly mixed, and mastered to our specifications at our studio, and then delivered to you in an easily accessible and shareable format.

Our Story
Our story began accidentally when our CEO Horacio's wife, Samar, had a friend who's office was throwing a going away party for a colleague after many years of service. They wanted something special and Samar's friend Emma, knew her colleague knew that she liked Jazz, and that Horacio was a jazz musician.
So she asked Horacio if he wanted to give it a try, just to help a friend out. So, he asked his trio mates if they would like to do this interesting thing, and they were totally onboard but weren't sure how this would be received, since nobody knew if the other employees liked jazz music.
But they figured they really had the skills and Horacio had built a decent home studio so they said: "Let's do it! Why not?"
Every Your Song Day employee is passionate about music though may have specialties in other areas, but back then it was just Horacio and Billy and Dave who were making a musical living the traditional way, as part of Horacio's trio, Each one had their musical focus, with each one doing his thing: Like teaching music, or doing pick up gigs, touring, or playing music in a renowned Navy Military band ensemble....
So, they were fairly busy, but happened to be between gigs when the question came in to do "something jazzy" for the coworker, as a special gift.
Well, they got to work and came up with the idea to write a tune about her. Samar is a writer and a poet so she was the lyricist, and they asked Emma some questions for background about her coworker, like if she had any stories or memorable events to share and basically built a narrative of why this person was so important to them. Samar began to write the lyrics, and later Horacio composed music inspired by the lyrics.It took them a few weeks due to life schedules, but after making sure it was the best ever, they sent the link to Emma.
The day came for the work party and they rolled out a blue tooth speaker, and began playing the song. She said we couldn't imagine the smiles and joy, and emotions that everyone felt and expressed that day. They literally played it 5 times and people were singing along by the end of it. They all said they'd never experienced a gifting so personal and unique. For our part, it made us feel truly happy that we had affected them so positively and lastingly, with something we had created just for them.
It was that day that we took two steps and said:
"We gotta do this for everybody!"

Our lyricist team at Your Song Day is led by the talented Samar, who brings a unique vision and passion for music to every custom composed jazz song. As a Georgetown University graduate, author, poet, and marathon runner, she understands the importance of perseverance when personalizing a jazz song as a gift, with her focus on the finish-line being to create meaningful moments, and strong memories. With her leadership, creative writing, and dedication, she strives to make every gift unique and unforgettable.
Michael
Recording Engineer, Acoustic Specialist
Lead of our audio tech team, Michael is a sought-after acoustic master technician, recording and mastering engineer, and consultant, He's collaborated and recorded with some of the industry's best, including Herbie Hanckock, Paul McCartney, Christian McBride, Esperanza Spaulding, and Joshua Redman. His expertise has also led him to tour internationally, and consult on numerous projects. Additionally, he's performed front-of-house live sound duties at renowned venues, such as Jazz at Lincoln Center, The Blue Note, and Hollywood Bowl.
